Faith.com Boards As We Age As we find ourselves getting older, is our faith deepening? Do we have a stronger sense of God or the Spirit than we did when we were younger? ![]() ![]() Jackson - 01:39pm Feb 17, 2006 EST (# 26 of 35) Re: Child vs. Adult
I agree with Phillip. Children are more trusting than adults. They are able to have more faith.

People can change over the years but usually only if something bad happens to them, which is a shame.

mdean - 12:11am Jun 8, 2006 EST (# 30 of 35) Of course...
Of course as people grow older they will start growing closer to a fictitious "God." They sense death approaching and will grab on to anything in order to give them hope... Seriously, what did you expect?

mdean, are you implying that most older people are "weak/deserate" are something?
Kevin Lows - 01:08pm Oct 4, 2006 EST (# 32 of 35) Older people vs. younger people
I find that my faith was strong as a child and it is hard to get it to the place it was when I was younger
AlanPBallou - 08:45pm Oct 12, 2006 EST (# 33 of 35) Continue in the faith! It is required.
In order to remain in the condition we were in when we first came to the Lord, be it a child or whatever our age, we have to continue in our faith in order to remain in the condition we were in when we first came to the Lord according to the Word of the Lord written in Colossians 1:21-23. Faith comes by hearing the Word (Romans 10:17) which is Spirit (John 6:63). Only spiritual things give birth to Spirit, but worldly things give birth to flesh (John 3:6; Ephesians 5:15-20). So we have to continue growing in the Word of God in order to have a "stronger sense of God or the Spirit" as it is mentioned above. When we fall away from the faith, by not doing the things mentioned, then we are not only in danger of loosing this "sense of God," but we are also in danger of destruction according to the Word of the Lord written in Hebrews 10:38-39. Can God lie? Many today have fallen away from the faith either by speaking against what is written (1 Timothy 6:20-21) or by not changing according to what is written (Ephesians 4:17-18), and so now the Word has been taken away from them (Mark 4:24-25; Matthew 13:11-12).
Make sure that your zeal for God is based on what is written and not what someone thinks. If what we believe doesn't match what is written then we are not following the Holy Spirit of God who wrote the Word (2 Peter 1:20-21), but worldly religion (2 Timothy 4:1-4). Those who serve the Lord will speak His Word, point blank period (John 3:34; Jeremiah 23:22). May the Lord bless you in the name of Jesus! Amen. Alan Ballou. As I've gotten older (52), I naturally want to get closer to my Creator. Also, quite naturally, I've become more suspiciuos that the God I was taught about as a Child (Southern Babtist upbringing) is not at all who he is. Sadly, I do not believe the Holy Bible is 100% "Holy". Too many Human hands have compromised it! Anybody else out there feelin' me?

The one thing I’ve learned about happiness
It will never last pretending you’re not you.
Somehow, someway the truth will arise
And all that you hide will show through. Sooner or later, one way or another
Something in your life seems wrong.
You go to bed unhappy and awake the same
Repeating life’s mistakes too long. One day, to yourself, you begin to question
“Is this who I am and wish to be”?
How will I choose to live the rest of my life
Till the angel of death comes for me? Most people wish to be at peace with God,
Oneself, and those we love.
Frequently taking a look at our past
Praying for guidance from above. Thank heaven for the whispers from the heart
Which remind us that evil has it’s voice too.
It’s always a battle amid right and wrong
As we ponder and perform what we do. By Tom Zart
