Our Parents’ Faith

How do our religious lives compare to those of our parents? Are we more or less religious than they were? Do we find that we spend more time on spiritual matters than they did, or less?

Not that religious...

I grew up in a pretty religious hosuehold. But as I got older, I got disinterested in my parents' faith. When I start a family, I will let my children decide their own faith.

Re: spirtual...

I do not "get" when people say they are spirtual but not religious. Religious people are spirtual...

Religious and Spiritual matters / Parrents or Pastors. What does the Bible say?

First of all Religion and spirituallity are two different things, yet I don't think the question ment to separate the two. I believe that it is ment to ask if we are more or less religious and spiritual than our parents. I could be wrong on this, but my conscience is clear concerning it. Anyway, when most of us talk about religion today, we speak of denomanational beliefs, but religion according to the Bible is covered in James 1:26-27 and it speaks of something abit different. Please read the verses from your own Bible. The Word itself breaks strongholds in our thinking (2 Corinthians 10:3-5; Hebrews 4:12).

To be spiritual according to my conscience is to be filled with the Spirit of the Lord. The Holy Spirit, or Holy Ghost, or whatever your version of the Bible calls the Spirit of the Lord (2 Corinthians 3:17-18). Some might even say that to be spiritual is to display the acts of the Spirit in ones life (Galatinans 5:22-23; Colossians 3:12), but the one doesn't come without the other. A bad tree cannot bare good fruit (Matthew 7:15-27). In other words, we cannot display the acts of the spirit until we are filled with the Spirit (John 15:4-5). Oh sure, we can be nice and loving, but if we are in the flesh and following our sinful nature we will only be acting that way in order to fulfill some type of desire (Galatians 5:16-17; Romans 8:5-8). That's why we burn out. Without the Spirit, a person will grow tired of playing Christian very quickly. Read John 14:15-24 and tell me when you are going to be filled with the Holy Spirit. What did the Lord command us to do (John 15:1-17; 13:34-35; 1 John 3:11-23)? Read Luke 11:9-13. Read Acts chapter 10. Only spirit gives birth to spirit (John 3:6).

Now that He is here, the Holy Spirit will always lead us into reading the Word of God (John 14:26) and He will teach us all things (1 John 2:27). Now after being filled with the Holy Spirit the Lord tells us to speak to one another with Psalms and spiritual songs (Ephesians 5:15-20). This is inline with John 6:63, which tells us that the Word of God is spirit and it gives life, and this is inline with John 17:17 which says that we are made holy through the Word of God, which is inline with our reasonable act of spiritual worship covered in Romans 12:1-2. Romans 12:1-2 tells us to offer our new living bodies to the Lord by renewing our minds with the Word of God, which is our first act of worship towards the Lord. I say that is is the first because no Christians will know the Lord's will for their life until they do.

So doing spiritual things depends on where you ar in your walk of faith. For one it is simply reading the Word and renewing their mind with the truth and for another it could be seving others (1 Peter 4:10). Please read the verses before you speak against me. The Lord is searching for those who will worship Him this way according to John 4:23-24. When we speak things that are against the faith we will fall away from the faith in that area until we repent (1 Timothy 6:20-21). So please read the verses before you speak against them. Also when we do not live up to what we have attained, then the Word will be taken from us accoding to Mark 4:24-25 (Hebrews 5:11-14; Luke 10:42; Mark 4:15-20). So it doesn't matter who we ask, our parents or our Pastor. What matters is if the answers to our questions come from the Word of God or is it a myth that we are following? The one whom the Lord sends will speak His Words (John 3:34; Jeremiah 23:22). In fact, we will not have complete access to the Spirit until we learn to speak the Word of God acording to John 3:34. This is one of the reasons there is no power in most churches today (1 Corinthians 2:4-5; 4:20; Galatians 3:5; 1 Thessalonians 1:4-5). There are many Pastors who do not preach the Word (2 Timothy 4:1-4) and many religious parents who do not speak the Word (Proverbs 22:6). Who is willing to check the answers they receive (Acts 17:11)? Are we more spiritual than our p

Re: religion and spiritual matters

I do agree that spirtual practices reflect the faith on the inside.

MOTHERS

MOTHERS

There’s no greater power on earth Than the love we get from our mothers. They feel our fears within themselves Far more than sisters or brothers.

As seasons pass; in time we learn We can’t always rely on others. No mater what our mistakes may be We know we can run to our mothers.

Mothers have great big aprons To hide from the world our flaws. They kiss and scold when we do wrong Teaching compliance of God’s laws.

From birth to death mothers lead Our angels of kindness from above. They give us more than anyone else Preaching the importance of love.

Moms are certainly God’s gift to earth So if you still have one, let it be known. You can’t imagine your life without her While the seed of your future is sown.

Times change

As the needs of people in society change, so too does religious practice change. Religion should be suited to its time, so parents and children should never have identical religious experiences.

re: Why do teens lie to there parents`

We lie because parents don't understand that we want to have sex and we understand how to do it safely. you think we are idiots but pre-marital sex is OK as long as we have your support and understanding. It's a lot safer if we don't have to lie.
